A modern hut sleeping 12 on 2 platform bunks. Features gas cookers and a heater, but can be very hard to warm given its exposed site and large size. Tucked 20m east of the range, it misses the worst fo the wind which can be brutal on the top, but still hums and creaks in a westerly. Views over the valleys of southern Hawkes Bay - on a good day. Frequently views of cloud and mist.
