Description
Standard Hut. Possibly the highest hut in the North Island with great aspect in all directions other than North which is blocked by the main Peak of Mt Taranaki. Has water, no heating, but bunks and mattresses. Situated in the clear well above the bushline. No poles to afix a mast to so bring some nails and a hammer or lots of straps. Very exposed and windy. Plenty of good sized rocks around. Hut is tied down by steel ropes. Snow and icy conditions in winter. Not an easy climb but you will be rewarded by a top radio spot. Climb up from Dawson Falls 3.5 to 5 hours.
