On the south bank of the Waikara River, Otane Hut sits at the top of a 200m long clearing on river flats. The hut is long, a roofed deck across the front, a doorway in its center. 2 single and 2 double beds inside, an unusual configuration which looks original. A water tank - again unusual for a hut 10m from the river, a woodburner -but dry wood hard to find in the fern forest around when I visited. Standard Hut
