Description
Island offshore from the northeast coast of the North Island, approximately 23km northwest of Great Barrier Island (Aotea Island) and approximately 57km due east of Bream Bay. It is the largest island in the Mokohinau Islands group at approximately 1.5km long. . Feature shown on: NZTopo50-AX33 936206; Well known local name. The island was known by mutton-birders as Motukino Island, but as Fanal is well known it was deemed unwise to change the name.
