Description
Island south of Muriwai Beach locality at the northern end of Maori Bay.; The island, now greatly reduced in size, was once a site of a Māori pa. The Māori settlement on the mainland was called Motutara. Today the name is only used for the domain opposite the island. Gannets now nest on the island around the domain.
