Islet just west of and inshore of Motueka (Pigeon) Island lying easterly of Mercury Bay. Block IX Otama Survey District.; Name submitted by the South Auckland Chief Surveyor, June 1972, after research in connection with the revision of NZMS1 N44. Name from Turtons Deed plan page 231, early survey records, and Admiralty Chart 2574. Origin and meaning unknown.
