Name submitted by the Nelson Chief Surveyor, October 1966, after field check for the revision of NZMS1 S8. Names supplied by the Golden Bay Alpine and Tramping Club. Named after the wife of a Mr Lewis who is credited with placing the existence of this lake on record.
