Named after Burt Barra, a deer culler in the 1930's. He played a major part in that operation in this area, and first saw the lake while culling, but may not have been the first person to find it. Refer correspondence for experts from "The Deer Wars" and "Shooting for the Skipper" in which Burt Barra is mentioned.
