Info Origin
One of a series of names sourced for a new edition of the map of Stewart Island. Names were either taken from existing maps, charts, or publications, or supplied by Mr Roy Traill, or other Stewart Island locals and confirmed by Mr Traill. Name suggested by Mr Traill as a tribute to Mr J K Calder, school teacher at the island for many years. He was still living on the island in his retirement.
