Description
Lake between the upper Rangitata and Ashburton Rivers 3km West by South-west of Mount Guy, and immediately North of Lake Clearwater locality. Blocks I and II, Tripp Survey District.; First named by T H Potts in April 1957, when he explored the country between the upper Rakaia and upper Ashburton Rivers, with Leach and Phillips. Name was decriptive of the clear water in the lake. Named Lake Tripp by later runholders, this was thought to be the original name, and Gazetted in 1953 page 86, but the name never gained common usage. Instead of Lake Tripp 23/01/1953 3:86
