Info Origin
Previously known as Lake Hogg, and Guddopps Lake. Mr Guddopp owned the surrounding land and allowed the public to own the land by permit. The lake became too popular, Mr Guddopp sold the lake area all together with an access to the highway and a strip around the lake. A benevolent farmer, Mr John Dudding was persuaded to purchase the property and donate it to the Marton Bourough Council. The reserve is known as the Lake Dudding Reserve. The small lake to the left is still in private ownership.

This is a very scenic lake open to the public via Dudding Lake Rd. The owners of the camp ground are very HF friendly & welcome day time visitors. Call into the office on arrival or phone ahead. There are clean on site toilets. There is a charge for overnight camping but free for day visits if you're only there for a couple of hours or so. https://duddinglake.nz/
