Info Origin
Named after Ken Hyslop who studied the area for his fourth year project BSc Honours in Geology. Killed 1979 in an ice-avalanche in the Himalayas. He made important contributions to NZ mountaineering including the first ascent of south face of Marian. This area is more of interest to geologists than other users of the National Park, so it is appropriate that it was named after the geologist who did the first geological work on it.
