Info Origin
Named by VUWAE 4 1960-61 (Victoria University of Wellington Antarctic Expedition). Advised that the name may be a diminuative, applied following a habit of Texan geologist Dick Blank, due to the small size or ephemeral nature of the lake. Blank "had a habit of referring to small features or objects by adding the suffix -ule to the noun. A very small lake became a lake-ule for example. This habit rather amused us all and eventually caught on and soon we all began doing it."
