Info Origin
Named by VUWAE 4 1960-61 (Victoria University of Wellington Antarctic Expedition). Advised that the name may be a diminuative, applied following a habit of Texan geologist Dick Blank, due to the small size or ephemeral nature of the lake. "Dick talked about fact-oids meaning observations we thought were correct only to find they did not stand up to subsequent testing. So other nouns like dinner became dinner-oid when the evening meal was burnt on the primus and became inedible. Its all a bit infantile but odd things happen when people are confined to share a tent for two months in an isolated environment."
