Info Origin
One of a series of names sourced for a new edition of the map of Stewart Island. Names were either taken from existing maps, charts, or publications, or supplied by Mr Roy Traill, or other Stewart Island locals and confirmed by Mr Traill. Name suggested by Mr Traill after his daughter, a keen botanist, who accompanied her father on several of his expeditions up Freshwater River. The largest lake on Stewart Island.
