Description
Lake 3.6km northwest of Paradise.; A descriptive name, the adjective Sylvan being interchangable with Silvan, meaning 'of the woods'. The form Sylvan was first applied on a survey of part of the interior of Otago by James McKerrow in 1862 and 1863.
