My first Lakes activation while on holiday a long way from home at a beach we've been to quite a few times over the years. Using my QRP SDR (aka "cheap chinese radio box") and a JPC-12 vertical antenna I started off on 40m (approx 4watts) and got 1 contact. I knew the setup went better on 20m (approx 7watts) so a quick change and reconfigure got the other 3 contacts.
I also have a Geocache in this area so if you're into those as well or just want an adventure check it out. Its called Sea Cave.
