Smiths Stream is a standard 6-bunk forestry hut. It has been designated a historic hut and as such no modifications / improvements have been allowed. The hut is unlined, has 6 wire-mesh bunks, and an open fire. Water is from the stream, and the rats are included for free.
The hut sits on a terrace 20m above (north) of the southern fork of Smiths Stream. Good grassy flats below beside the river offer good spots to camp.
