Island in Patea Passage, south of Bauza Island, Doubtful Sound/Patea.; Name submitted by the Marine Department in November 1963. Named to identify features when issuing Notices to Mariners. Named after the Utah Mining and Construction Company.; 'Utah Mining and Construction was a major contractor on the Manapouri power station.'
