The largest lake on Secretary Island, situated 1km East by South-east of Mount Grono Trig. (Geodetic Code A0DW).; Name submitted by G T S Baylis, Professor of Botany at Otago University, in November 1967, to provide feature names to facilitate vegetation studies on Secretary Island. As the largest lake on Secretary Island, it takes it's name from the island name.
